As a result of our survey, we do not only identify and analyze main research trends, but also show current opportunities and challenges where personalized recommendations could be exploited as solutions for citizens, firms and public administrations.Ībstract:- Emergency alert and response is carried out in different ways around the world. For this reason, in this paper we present a taxonomy of smart city features, dimensions, actions and goals, and, according to these variables, we survey the existing literature on recommender systems. However, to the best of our knowledge, there is not a comprehensive review of the state of the art on recommender systems for smart cities.

There are scientific articles covering recommendation approaches in smart city applications, and there are recommendation solutions implemented in real world smart city initiatives. Within ICT, recommender systems are strong tools that filter relevant information, upgrading the relations between stakeholders in the polity and civil society, and assisting in decision making tasks through technological platforms. This study reveals many practical challenges in police patrolling for future research.Īmong other conceptualizations, smart cities have been defined as functional urban areas articulated by the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and modern infrastructures to face city problems in efficient and sustainable ways. The applicability of OR in this domain is set to grow significantly as the governments formulate policies related to smart city planning and urban security. This is the first-of-its-kind review on police patrol presenting a classification scheme based on the type of problem, objective and modelling approach. In this paper, we present a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art in this domain, especially from the practice of operations research (OR) point of view. Many cities across the world have adopted a structured and intelligent method of police patrol due to the presence of a variety of operational and resource constraints. Many interesting decision making problems appear in route design, resource allocation and jurisdiction planning. Police patrol is an effective crime prevention tool and boosts public confidence in urban security.
